Designing your unique piece of jewelry

Some clients are daunted by the idea of designing their own unique piece of jewelry. Have a look at the below interaction between Jennifer, a bride-to-be in Atlanta, and myself.

After having looked through the bridal collection on this web site, Jennifer decided to work together with me to create truly personalized jewelry, for her big day. Through a series of emails we were able to come up with the perfect set of matching necklace, bracelet and earrings, for her wedding day, as well as matching gifts for her own mom and her future mother-in-law.

I've looked at various items of jewelry and this is what I'm thinking: It needs to be very simple so that it does not over power my wedding dress!!!! I would like sparkle and pearl on the necklace!!!

I thought about what you have in mind: What do you think of a double strand of Swarovski crystals? In other words: 2 strands .. one a little longer than the other. A single strand could get lost in photos etc. We could also match a pretty little bracelet, if you like.

Think of what you really want. Please also give me an exact measurement of the necklace length (and bracelet length) ... including the clasp.

Sounds good!!!

Yes to 2 Stands, and I do want the second strand a little longer than the first, and attached directly to the first strand. Like a loop hanging down with a "pear pearl" in the middle hanging from the first strand, like in your design N007 (The looped choker with strands featured in the Bridal collection).

We will try to send you a simple drawing of what we are thinking of. I will also send you the measurements. And I would like 7 pearls in the necklace plus the one "pear pearl"!!! 8 pearls in total, because it's my favorite number!!!

And then for my earrings I would like sparkle beads hanging down and then on the ends of the earrings I would like a pearl. The beads in the earrings can be the same size or a little smaller....I just don't want them to be too long, but I want them to hang a little!!!

The bracelet sounds perfect too!!!!

And it can have sparkle beads with just two pearls to symbolize Andrew and I!!!

I suggest that we use a large teardrop Swarovski crystal at the center, and the eight pearls scattered symmetrically on either side.

The length of the bigger strand is 16 inches. The second strand is 10 inches. The bracelet 7 1/8 inches.

And I love the idea of the teardrop Swarovski crystal!!! And just have 8 pearls through-out the necklace and it will be beautiful!!!

Hi Jennifer,

Have a look at this attachment - It's your necklace and earrings.

Don't let the loose threads phase you: This is just a temporary way of showing you the necklace before I string it up and attach the clasp.

I feel that the lower strand may need to be a little shorter than it is now - What do you think?

It is sooo beautiful!!!! My mouth just dropped when I saw it!!! I have no words for how touched I am! Mom says you need to fly over here and hand deliver it and be here for the wedding!!!

It looks perfect how it is!!! I just want to make sure you are adding extra extension chain on the back of necklace so we can adjust the length as needed!!!!

And I was wondering, as a sweet gift to my mom and my future mother-in-law, if you could make them the same bracelet as you are making me???? (So total 3 bracelets) That could be a meaningful symbol!!!

And you are adding 3 pearls to the bracelet close together... with only 2 crystal beads in between them. One pearl represents me and the other is Andrew and the third pearl is our unity!!! How does that sound?

- Big big smiles here!

Let's consider this: You bracelet is 2 faux pearls and a larger crystal between the 2 pearls - so that the larger crystal symbolizes your unity and the 2 pearls are you and Andrew.

I need wrist measurements for the 2 moms or if you like, we can make their bracelets with little extension chains too, so that they can play with the fit, rather than giving the surprise away by measuring their wrists.

- Of course I'll add an extension chain on your necklace ;-)

I think the earrings are perfect!!! And the idea for the bracelets sounds terrific!!!!

Andrew's mom and my mom are about the same size as my wrist but adding extensions to the bracelets is a really good idea!!!
